Ok, so maybe Labor Day should have been titled Our Last Summer Hurrah or better yet, Exhausting Weekend. We crammed as much fun things as we could into one weekend and shared it with the Hurt clan.
Saturday started off semi early. We waited forever for Jason and Sheba to wake up, but once they were up, we were off to Pigeon Forge. I think we were able to leave by 9AM. A day for the shopper to enjoy. I think Krista and my mom would love this place and could happily shop all day. I on the other hand got exhausted. I have to be looking for something these days. My kids make shopping a nightmare because they are literally hiding in the clothes racks and racing around the shoe aisles. Whose crazy kids are those anyways?
So after an exhausting first day, we crashed at a local hotel. The kids were so excited to test out the swimming pool.
Here is Larry Denzil getting ready to throw a scared little
Denzil into the water.
Here is Jason and Savannah having some fun. Savannah
would not leave poor Jason alone.
Here is Xander and Daddy. I title this one
my two white boys.
Here is Ethan cold and tired, but still able to smile for his Mommy.
Here is Patricia protecting Emalene's ears from the water.
Poor little Emalene had a ruptured ear drum.
Alright, after swimming, the girls enjoyed a little scrapbooking.
Trisha's cricut was the hit of the party. Savannah cut all kinds of things
to make a Brownie scrapbook.
On Sunday morning, we were off to the Knoxville Zoo.
I had no idea we had a zoo so close to home.
This is a Red Panda. Looks like a cross between a
fox and a raccoon.
This is Ruby's 3rd zoo, but I think she is old enough to have some fun now.
She was getting excited at every animal we saw.
Here she is yelling LOOK!
Here is Uncle Ben and Kelli hanging out with Ethan.
I loved this picture of Denzil and Emalene looking through a
port hole at some turtle bogs.
Here are 2 of 3 beautiful tortoises that were out.
The zoo keeper said the youngest was 80 and the other
tortoise is 125.
OK, here is my poor little Ethan. He is showing Kelli Jo
where he got zapped by an electric fence. Yes, ELECTRIC FENCE!
They had turtle eggs being protected by the raccoons.
Ethan was leaning over the ropes
to take a closer look. Someone yelled look out for
the electric fence and next thing you know, Ethan fell right on it with his little nose.
Boy did he scream. He didn't cry long though. He was more excited to
tell people he got stung by the fence.
Kelli and Ruby bonded on this trip.
Ruby wanted Kelli to carry her everywhere.
Four little animals on the wrong side of the fence.
Ethan survived his day at the zoo. Another funny story that
Krista can enjoy. Ethan had to pee and the restrooms were clear on the other side of the exhibit. What does a four year old boy do? He drops his pants and pees right there
in the bushes.
My attempt at a family photo. Notice the 2 in the stroller sleeping.
Ethan had been asleep for a while. Ruby, we placed
in the stroller seconds before and she literally just zonked out.
As soon as she was reclined, she was out.
The boys wanted me to take a picture of this bird because of its spiked hairdo.
They are all about the spiked hair.
Ethan kissing the chimpanzee. I love this picture!
