Why I Love 8PM

Need I Say Anymore?

Brotherly Love

Ethan wanted me to take these pictures of him last night. Even though Ruby is mean and abusive to him, he adores her. I love these two so much.

My Completed Baby Blankets

I just finished my second blanket this month and wanted to share.  Both are done with little girls in mind.  This second blanket I used a carrier yarn along with my usual baby yarn.  I have never done that before, but it added a soft, furry characteristic to this blanket. Here is the first blanket I completed this year. It is pink, white, and purple.  Whenever I find yarn on sale, I buy what I can.  Usually enough to do 5 or more blankets. I have been quite lucky lately to find excellent deals at Hobby Lobby and AC Moore.

A Day in the Life of Ruby

This is what happens when Mommy tries to take a short break and finish up some peaceful projects. Ruby got into the kids mouthwash. On a positive note, it smells really good and made the kids living room smell fruity.

Hot & Sour Soup Anyone?

Lynette, this recipe is for your collection. Everyone in this house has had a head cold this past week. What better for a head cold than hot and sour soup. Nothing will clear out your sinuses like a bowl of this wonderfully delicious soup. I found this simple recipe off foodnetwork.com I love that website. It is Emeril's classic hot and sour soup. Ingredients include: 10 cups of chicken broth, dried shiitake mushrooms.  I use fresh to cut down on  preparation time.  2 Tbsp of vegetable oil, 1/3 cup fresh ginger ( I use a ginger paste because it dissolves better), 2 Tbsp minced garlic, 3/4 tsp crushed red pepper You need half a pound of chicken and or tofu.  I go the healthy, inexpensive route with tofu.  You slice them into thin strips. 1/4 cup of lime juice and 3 Tbsp of corn starch. 3 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, and hot chile oil for drizzling. Combine the fresh shiitake mushrooms and 3 cups of the broth in a pot and bring to a simmer.  (If you are using dried mushrooms,

Savannah's Surgery

Here is my little Savannah after having her tonsils and adenoids removed. I was not told about the adenoids, but Larry said the doc was looking at them and decided they were quite large as well. So my little girl survived her first surgery that she was so  excited to have.  I think she was tired hearing about the  3 boys different surgeries from Larry's numerous major surgeries down to Xander's tenotomy and Ethan's hernia repair.  Geez, boys. Anyways, all is well with our little girl, aside from getting her nose to stop bleeding. She is not complaining much of pain right now and is drinking just fine. Yay Savannah.

A Busy Day

Yesterday, Savannah's Brownie Troop had a meeting at the Health Adventure here in town.  They were earning a special try it on My Body.  So while she was with her group, I took my other 4 to the Curious George exhibit. Boy was it a huge hit.  Here is Ruby all over the man of the hour. Here is Ethan, my little man.  If there are costumes around, you can bet this boy will put them on.   The golf ball set up was a big hit with all my kids. Xander and Larry were hogging all the balls and sending them down one after the other. This little contraption was a big hit as well.  Ruby loved putting the blocks on the conveyer belt as the boys were wheeling it up and over into a pit.  Look at her hard at work.   The kids and I had fun emailing photos home.   Unsure of the surprises that would await us. Ruby was a bit unsure sitting on the stool, but she still took a cute photo. Ethan is pure joy waiting to explode wherever  he goes.  He grabbed hold of some tubing and looks like he is yelling y

The Best Toy Ever

Sorry for the blur. Ruby got this for Christmas and absolutely loves it. Ethan is always on it as well. So if you have a 2 year old or 4 year old, I urge you to buy this wonderful toy that is sure to exhaust all. It is the jump start trampoline by kid-riffic.

A Birthday Party For Xander

With all our company here, we decided to celebrate Xander's birthday one week early.  He was thrilled to death to have all these people here for his 7th. Xander wanted a castle cake.  Larry Denzil decorated  it for me.  Xander chose the sprinkles. "Let's get this party started." This is what happens when you let Uncle Ben have  a baby.  Look at little Emalene's chocolate covered face.  She was in heaven. A party is never a party without a little Jason around. Look at how sweet Denzil is, patiently waiting for cake. My Denzil waiting for gifts. "The Talk"  We decided that when our boys are  baptized, they will receive their first pocket knife.  We bought Larry a nice little pocket knife  and also got the boys a small swiss army knife for cub scouts. Here, Larry Denzil is showing them the knives and going over all the rules. Ethan's pure joy and excitement over these new knives makes me a bit nervous. Here is Ruby Isabella.  This is what she did during
