Canning, Dieting, and Weening Ruby from her Nubby

What a busy end of July I am having.  Today I have canned my 4th pint jar of jalapeno peppers. We have 2 little pepper plants in the garden that have been bearing so much fruit.  I have canned a jar of peppers a week because of them.  I cannot wait to can my tomatoes.  We have about 20 tomato plants with tons of fruit hanging off the vines.  Larry Denzil and the kids are in Heaven. Larry Denzil and I have started Phase 1 of the South Beach diet again.  Fun.  So far it is going well. Usually by day 4 I crave sweets, but today is a good day.  Of course it is just day 1.  Larry Denzil is doing a "Biggest Loser" challenge with the Hurt men starting Aug 1.  They are all dieting and exercising to see who can lose the most body fat.  This should prove interesting.  I won't post any humiliating pictures of us.  Of me anyways.  I think Larry Denzil would enjoy showing his pectoral muscles. He just has maybe 10 pounds to lose around the gut.  I will just keep everyone updated as we

Christmas in July

What a fun evening we had last night.  A fellow family at Church invited us to a Christmas in July celebration with 5 other families.  Our kids had an absolute blast.  Maggi thought of everything right down to the turkey and ham.  She even had a Charlie Brown Christmas tree displayed for the kids to decorate.  As they decorated, the kids were suppose to share a Christmas tradition.  All my kids could think of was opening Christmas presents and eating candy out of their stockings.  We are going to have to work harder this year with our traditions. They read "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and even had a snow ball fight.  Yes, you read correctly, a snowball fight in July.  She had marshmallows for the kids to throw and boy did they throw them.  They went  absolutely crazy.  My kids LOVED it.  I wish I had lots of pictures to share, but I forgot my camera. Here are some pictures that Larry took with her camera.  I hope you all enjoy.

Home Improvements

July has been a busy month for us as far as repairs.  Larry Denzil finally got the boys triple bunk built.  Extremely heavy bed that is definitely staying here after we move.  Anyways, it has made their room less crowded and more livable.   We also got a free bunk bed for the girls.  Savannah loves it.  Ruby could care less, but she is out of the crib and in a big girl bed.  Just one more milestone she has met. Larry Denzil was out of town this week so I did some home improvements of my own.  I installed curtains in the kids bedrooms and I painted their bathroom.  Painting a bathroom sounds easy unless it is my kids bathroom.  I had to repair all the holes, do some sanding, and wipe down all the fingerprints and crayon marks.  My kids love me.  Anyways, after a day of sweat and tears, I was able to put a fresh coat of melon green paint on the walls.  Yes it is bright, but very kid appropriate.  They love it.

Our Vacation!?!? Part 2

Friday, June 20, was the day that we were suppose to leave for Nauvoos.  I was so excited.  1. I had never been before.  2. It was a rough week with all the kids being sick, I really just needed a break.  So Thursday morning, I had been packing and doing all the laundry.  I thought everyone was feeling better.  Ruby was the only one not to get the virus and I was hoping she would not.  Savannah woke up with a migraine and honestly I did not think anything of it.  She has these on occasion.  It runs in the family.  I gave her some Motrin and she went and lied down with Mamaw.  About an hour later, I was told Savannah had a seizure.  "You have to be kidding   me!?"  Savannah has been seizure free for 4 and a half years and her doc took her off drugs 7 months ago.  She was doing so good.  A small part of me thought maybe it was the migraine and she would not have any more.  When she had her second one, I called her neuro and then called Larry Denzil.  She had very few that day.

Our Vacation!?!? Part 1

Well, what a few really emotional weeks we have had.  On June 15, Larry Denzil went on the much anticipated scout camp outing with the Hurt clan and the Ashland boys.  He was so excited. I was left at  Mamaw's house with all the kids.  That sunday, we celebrated Nate's birthday.  Here are some of the pictures that I was suppose to share with JoJuan. On Monday morning, we both woke up with that ill fated stomach virus that everyone seemed to have a few weeks before.  I had my illness at Mamaw's house while LarryDenzil was stuck in a tent in 100 degree weather.  And I think he got the worse end of the illness from what I hear.  Let's just say he was having great difficulty maneuvering a zipper with one hand on a favorite uncle's tent and may have vomited all over the wall of that tent.  Luckily this was a short lived virus.  Unfortunately for me, I was just the beginning.  I was sick monday.  Then tuesday night Ethan got sick and early wednesday Savannah was ill.  The
