Ok. My conference tradition consists of something that dates back to before Denzil and I were even married. It dates back to a day when Larry Denzil was a BYU college student and would watch conference at his Aunt Katie's house. She would spoil him rotten with scones. And now, to this day, he thinks of her every conference while he eats his scones. It has become our little tradition and I wanted to share our recipe with all of you.
The Roberts' Family Scones
2 packages of active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup butter
2 tsp salt
3 eggs beaten
4 1/2 cups water
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Add the 1 tbsp of sugar and set aside. Pour the boiling water over the remaining half a cup of sugar along with the butter and the salt. Add the eggs and mix well. Add in the yeast mixture along with 2 cups of flour and beat with a mixer until smooth. Mix in the remaining 2 1/2 cups of flour. Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut into squares or diagonals. I use a pizza cutter.
Fry in hot oil until browned on both sides and puffed up.
Serve with your favorite spread. We use honey butter.
1/2 cup of butter mixed with 1/4 cup of honey.
A teaspoon of cinnamon can be added for extra flavoring.
I hope you guys enjoy this recipe as much as

whether it is for General Conference, Christmas, or FHE.
Here is Savannah. She is working on
schoolwork. She is not back to her old self
yet, but she is getting better. She won't talk and
she is super clingy. She is awkwardly
shy too. I am talking, hide under the
kitchen table shy. That is not normal
behavior for her. But, she is 48
hours seizure free.

He very rarely does any house chores.
I do not mind because he works so hard outside
of the home. I just thought this was a sight I might not see again.

Sincerely, my thoughts and prayers have been with your family this week and I hope Savannah recovers and well, Larry doesn't and he keeps on cleaning! My friend from Taiwan Frances decided she was going to marry an American when she saw Brian doing the dishes while she was visiting. :)
BTW, I remember when Larry became conveniently allergic to dish detergent and got out of doing dishes for years and years. I was and still am very suspicious of this.
I tried really hard even though my kids are all raised, I would make yummy cinnamon rolls. Last week, I gave a bridal shower and the other person that helped me made these great cinnamon rolls....with a bar of different toppings. So anywho, I wanted to make them for my family.
They turned out harder than hockey pucks.........but I am going to try again.
Imp a great cook, but a terrible baker.
It's never to late to start a tradition.....and I want to have my grandkids remember me for something........
On a lighter note, glad you finally got a pic of Larry using the vaccume. I sometimes have to do a sneak pic of Brint doing those rare behaviors :-)
