Happy Birthday to a Missionary

On Monday we were invited to a surprise birthday
party for our missionary, Elder Terry, who was turning
21. This was the best family home evening we could
have asked for. Thanks Jennifer for inviting us
and putting together such a fun get together
which such wonderful people.
Apparently Ruby finally has a girl to play with in nursery.
She and L ran all over the yard.
It was such a wonderful sight. And when L left,
they gave one another a hug.
Here the girls are watching the men desperately
trying to light this cake. The summer breeze was working
against us.
Ethan enjoying his dad.
The men trying to light the candles.
Look at this transformers cake. My boys were just
oohing and ahhing over it.

Elder Terry opening up some fun gifts.

Look at this awesome pinata. My kids were thrilled to death
to see such a beautiful thing hanging from the trees.
Being the youngest, Ruby got the first hit.
She knew exactly what to do and was thrilled to death
with pleasure.
Here is Ethan getting his licks in. He was a little scarey because he
started running around in circles whacking air.
Here is S taking her turn. I think she realized that
stabbing worked too.
Xander taking his turn at bat, or so it seems.
Savannah's favorite person is in the background,
her activity day leader.
Larry having a go at it.
My favorite picture. Here is little B
taking a turn at hitting the shiny pinata.
All the older kids made it seem so fun, he had to
take a turn too.
Savannah popped a hole in this thing.
She wasted no time at hitting it.
The birthday boy taking a few swings.

His companion whacked it out of the tree.

Check out the mad rush of kids. If there is one thing they have learned,
Jennifer knows how to fill a pinata!

I missed the perfect shot, but as Jennifer was
moving the pinata away from the kids,
Ethan was inside of it scrounging around for more
candy. She literally pulled it off his head.

Happy 21st Elder Terry.

thanks for visiting my blog. I look forward to sending you something. can you mail me on harrison.zelna@gmail.com

then i get your details from you.
I love it when there is a pinata...it makes everyone revert back to an age where you would stick your head into an object that was just cracked open by a stick just to make sure you get as much candy as you can. Very cute pictures...makes me feel like I am there.

Apple Festival

OK,  I was too excited to wait on this new post.  We went to the Hendersonville Apple Festival this afternoon.  We have lived here 2 years and this was our first time going.  It was fun.  People had their crafts for sale and of course, lots of apples.  Anyways, center stage, a band was performing old rock n roll music.  We stopped to take a break and enjoy ice cream.  While sitting there, a square dancer asked Larry Denzil to be her partner in the square dancing routine.  Talk about a laugh, I hope you guys enjoy the pictures.  Did I forget to mention that the Hurts were in for a visit? Ok, here is Larry Denzil having a great time square dancing. I think he has found his true calling. Here is little Larry relaxing during the bands gig. Here is Larry Denzil and the little old lady who asked him to be her partner.  Poor thing, I do not think she read the back of his shirt.  He had the number  7 and at the top it said Baby Maker.  This was his work soft ball shirt. He is actually enjoying...

What on Earth!? How can you not stop and smile?

This morning I woke up and felt really good and energized. I was just ready to start the day. I had a little fun on the wii fit at 5:30Am before waking the kids.   A Valentine's gift from a dear husband.  I love video games and well, you might as well exercise while playing. Afterwards, I started with my chores.  Just trying to tackle  one room at a time.  The first room I cleaned was the children's living room.  Why did I choose this room? I knew Ethan & Ruby would play and watch TV, but I had no idea they would do this!? Here is a darling Ruby Isabella exhausted and asleep after her mayhem and destruction. Yes, that is toilet paper all over the floor. An entire roll they managed to toss all over the living room. They also got a hold of the baby bath and made some bubbles in  the boys bedroom, and got a hold of the lotion and squirted it all over  the footboard on my bed.  Where am I during all this? Feeling really good because I had washed, dried, and folded 4 loads of la...

Scary Moment

Last night we had a bit of a scare in our house.  I was making dinner for the missionaries.  No my dinner was not scary!  I was making a pre-holiday meal, ham and the whole nine yards.  I had purchased fresh cranberries to make cranberry sauce.  Larry and I do not like cranberries but all of my kids do.  Ruby was anxiously waiting to eat and was dancing around in our small busy kitchen trying to help me.  To scoot her along, I gave her a fresh cranberry to nibble on. Less than 5 minutes later she began crying.  Larry had just gotten home so I thought she just wanted him to pick her up.  He did and she kept crying and holding her mouth.  He thought maybe she was teething, but those pesky 2 year molars came early.  I was stressed making the meal, I did not have time for tears.  But Larry would not stop crying about Ruby.  Just kidding. He was freaking out and her crying was uncontrollable so I checked on her.  Her lower lip had completely swollen up.  This was our first experience with a...
