Summertime fun with Friends

One of my favorite pictures of the afternoon.
Ruby's classmate, Jarrod having some fun on the
park sign.
Xander testing out the hard monkey bar.
He made it across after a single attempt.
This boy is adventurous.
Sisters
Here is Ruby swimming.
I told them you couldn't swim in this water
because it was just ankle deep.
Here is Ruby proving me wrong.
Here is Annie carefully walking the
cold stream.
My Savannah enjoying some time
alone.
Brothers enjoying the cold stream
on a beautiful breezy summer
afternoon.
Ruby being adventurous.
The kids are building a dam to form
a natural wading pool.
They actually did a pretty good
job, that other children were enjoying.
Xander and his crawdad.
If there are critters around, he can find them.
He desperately wanted to bring this big ugly home.
He kept it in his shoe while we were here.
Ethan and his best buddy Soren.
These two are dangerous when together.
They had climbed up the hillside to the main road.

Little Benjamin enjoying the beautiful creek.
Grant is trying to hide from the camera.
Ruby enjoying the tunnels.
Ms. Thing trying to grasp both handles.
Always a poser.
Ethan and his buddy Soren had just been found
from their little adventure. I think Ethan
had fallen into the cold creek.
Nothing like a tire swing to keep a kid
entertained.
Sliding around.
Who knew boys so young could climb down poles?

Ethan and Soren, probably
wondering to themselves "what mess
can we get in now?"
Thank goodness summer is over!

Apple Festival

OK,  I was too excited to wait on this new post.  We went to the Hendersonville Apple Festival this afternoon.  We have lived here 2 years and this was our first time going.  It was fun.  People had their crafts for sale and of course, lots of apples.  Anyways, center stage, a band was performing old rock n roll music.  We stopped to take a break and enjoy ice cream.  While sitting there, a square dancer asked Larry Denzil to be her partner in the square dancing routine.  Talk about a laugh, I hope you guys enjoy the pictures.  Did I forget to mention that the Hurts were in for a visit? Ok, here is Larry Denzil having a great time square dancing. I think he has found his true calling. Here is little Larry relaxing during the bands gig. Here is Larry Denzil and the little old lady who asked him to be her partner.  Poor thing, I do not think she read the back of his shirt.  He had the number  7 and at the top it said Baby Maker.  This was his work soft ball shirt. He is actually enjoying...

Scary Moment

Last night we had a bit of a scare in our house.  I was making dinner for the missionaries.  No my dinner was not scary!  I was making a pre-holiday meal, ham and the whole nine yards.  I had purchased fresh cranberries to make cranberry sauce.  Larry and I do not like cranberries but all of my kids do.  Ruby was anxiously waiting to eat and was dancing around in our small busy kitchen trying to help me.  To scoot her along, I gave her a fresh cranberry to nibble on. Less than 5 minutes later she began crying.  Larry had just gotten home so I thought she just wanted him to pick her up.  He did and she kept crying and holding her mouth.  He thought maybe she was teething, but those pesky 2 year molars came early.  I was stressed making the meal, I did not have time for tears.  But Larry would not stop crying about Ruby.  Just kidding. He was freaking out and her crying was uncontrollable so I checked on her.  Her lower lip had completely swollen up.  This was our first experience with a...
